The Second Tooth

Nila lost her first tooth at a friends and Sarah missed it, tonight she lost her second when Sarah was at the YMCA and Sarah missed it. She is with the kids about 99.9% of the time and is 0 for 2 so far. Nila's second tooth fell out tonight when she was brushing her teeth and it was pure 5 year old joy. She told me that she got $1 for the first tooth and now will get $2 for the second one.

Kind of unrelated but the other day I was reading a blog about things parents did that kids remember and came across a post about how a mom use to tuck the kids in and write the address to dreamland in the air with her finger and send them off. I did it tonight after books with the kids and added a kiss as the stamp and the reaction was 100% joy.

Mr. Snowbugs

We ended up making a snowman at the sledding hill (also a first for this year). After he was made Nila and Jonas wanted to add a couple of more arms to make him Mr. Snowbugs.

Sledding

Sarah's dad took the kids sledding once over Christmas and then again in their back yard but I have really not taken them out this year. There is a big hill nearby that we went to today. After two runs down and a near miss of a large ramp built by some older kids I decided to truck the kids over to the smaller hill. Between the two of them I ended up going up and down more than anyone.

New sweater from Grandma Linda

Grandma Linda sent over two new sweaters for Baby Lilly. Lillian is our sitting master, that girl can sit in one spot and defies the laws of physics with her crazy bending and reaching. We keep trying to get her to stand or crawl or scoot. There is really no reason to do any of these things though when you have a larger sister and brother to keep you occupied during all your waking hours.

Ladybug

Nila wanted a pinata for her birthday. We got her a ladybug. She drew a picture of it to hang over the table for a birthday decoration. She also said that it has 5 feet because of her 5th birthday.

Nila at Preschool

I took a morning off work and went in to help in Nila's classroom. I have some serious respect for her teachers for moving 18 kids from activity to activity then getting them all dressed in full winter gear for a short outdoor recess. I had a great time.

Kids Camera

Some of our friends down the street dropped off some things their kids do not use any more. One of the items was a digital camera for kids. Jonas and Nila love to go around and take photos of everyone.

Kicked in the head.

Nila and Jonas were playing while getting ready to bed and Jonas got a kick to the nose. He was a bit freaked out and bleeding a lot but once we got some Kleenex in his nose he cheered right up.

Little girl gets bigger

Nila turned 5 years old a week ago. We had a little party in the morning with 6 of her friends from school then a small get together in the afternoon with Sarah s family. Sarah made a great cake.

Lilly - only real food

Lilly WILL NOT eat baby food. It is totally funny to watch her little mouth closed tighter than a clam. The other night, at dinner, we tried giving her some potato chunks and she ate it!! She also eats cheerios. She is just skipping purees and going straight to finger food.

Fist days of sun

The kids are loving the first days of sun after a long dark winter. Nila and Jonas have been playing on this big pile of snow by the fence the whole winter. They actually sled down it. Two seconds ago (of course before I got the camera out) Jonas was grabbed onto Nila's waist and she was tugging on the lawnmower handle in an effort to get it unstuck from the snow. A lot of "burried treasure" is starting to show up with the thaw.
