Thumb

Nila sucks her thumb. Her dentist has told us that it is not a huge deal yet so we have started to talk to her about stopping but not done much to enforce it.

Some of the discussions have gone like this.

Sarah: "Nila you need to stop sucking your thumb"
Nila: "I can't stop because my mouth needs it"

Jason: "Nila big kids and grownups do not suck their thumbs"
Nila: "Yea but they all tell me to take my thumb out because they want it"

So as you can see we are not going to be able to reason with her since she is smarter than we are.

Jonas with his cousin Graham watching some Winne the Pooh after baths at Grandma and Grandpas. Graham was trying to get Jonas's passy but Jonas ninja chopped him out of the way without even looking away from the "Fee Dee". You do not mess with that guys passy.

Trains

We went to a friends house today for some BBQ and Jason "another one" had a train set in his basement. Jonas Loves Loves LOVES trains and could have stood there for hours watching. He did end up going down two times to watch them run. He loved pointing out everything around the table. Trying to keep him from touching anything was a bit of a chore.

Jonas loves Charley.

The problem with the lip did not infringe on his ability to eat ice cream.

Banged up Kids

Both of our kids look like they have been in bar fights. Nila was pushing a plastic basket down the driveway and hit a crack that sent her face first into the driveway. Saturday I was pulling Nila and Jonas to the library and he stood up when I turned and went teeth first into the road. He pushed one of his front teeth back a bit. His lip was bleeding and he was screaming and we put a phone call into Aunt Eleanore for some dental advice. So there is more drama but the story is that he is fine now and his teeth are looking good his lip swelling is going down. Baby 3 is doing good.

New Sandbox

Jonas is 2. Jonas is a boy. Jonas is digging in the back yard. Jonas needs a sandbox so I built another one. The last one was a bit on the small side so the new one is 6ft X 8ft. The sand arrived Sat morning and after a BUNCH of trips with my new 5 gallon buckets I filled it up. Jonas was super happy that a "Bum F&@K" was at our house dumping sand in the back yard.

Hello summer. One of the last things we had to do prior to the arrival of the new baby was figure out how everyone would fit in the car. I tried to put the three car-seats in the wagon and in the maxima and the door would not shut in either. We went back and forth about smaller car seats this and that and ended up getting a used Honda minivan. Sarah is still having a hard time with it but I LOVE THE THING. It seats 8 and drives great.

Jonas wakes up in the morning and 99% of the time starts yelling "EAT OATMEAL" as loud as he can at 6:30am. This morning he slept in and then said his second fav thing... "Play trains w/me Daddy" So we set this up and had some late morning toast. Jonas loves loves loves trains.

Grandma hatched some chicks at her school and brought them over for the kids to see. Nila was really gentle. Jonas grabbed one and it went from making cheep cheep cheep noises to really high pitched CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP noises. The kid was fascinated by them and kept trying to pet them, play with the food, kiss them, hold them, pat them, play with the water... This is why we call him Jonas Bonus.

Sarah was getting a bit stir crazy in the house so we went for a walk this afternoon. On the way back we stopped for Ice Cream. Nila had fallen asleep and missed the whole thing but Jonas was in heaven for a little bit. He kept walking over to check on Nila. I think he could not believe that she was sleeping through ice cream.

All of the gutters on our house are clogged up and I spent some time on a ladder with a hose trying to get them all flowing again today. While Jonas was napping Nila was out playing in the yard collecting stones. She ran up to me with all these in her dress and said "Look at all the rocks I found in our front yard Daddy." I asked her to show them to me and went off to do something and when I got back she had the all arranged like this, she told me she made a rainbow. I do not know why but this is one of the little small things I love about her.

Last day of Preschool

Today for Nilas last day of preschool they had a picnic at a local park. I tugged the kids up in the bike trailer. Nila has some really great little friends that she loves playing with and had a great time running around and playing. One of the parents brought this air powered rocket blaster that Jonas helped out with. Some of the parents formed lines and they all took turns. Jonas was on the cleanup crew running around getting the rockets and charging the blaster. He was really good at it. Nila loves to go to school and loves her two teachers. She gets to be in the same class with the same group of kids next year.
