Passy

Moving was a tough time for everyone here. We lowered our "Fee-dee" (T.V.) standards a bit and plopped the kids in front of the "Pew-ger" (computer) to watch some netflix while painting, building, moving, unpacking etc. Jonas also took his nightly "Passy" (Passifier) habit to new highs by wanting to have one plunged in 24/7. Well we are pulling back now and the passy is only for "Night-night" (Nap time or bed time). Jonas is not taking it all that great. One of the problems that we have is that since he is addicted he has the things stashed all over the house. You take one away from him and then a hour later is is over setting up his train set with another one in his mouth. I have found the trick is to try and get it away from him when he is distracted by other things... Anyways we are working on it and he is getting better. You do need to realize that the face in the photo above is the one he lays on you when you take his passy away. It makes you tear up a bit doesn't it.

One is 4 another is 2

We had a ultimate combo birthday extraordinary this weekend for everyone. Recent birthdays include Jonas, Nila, Auntie Lis and Aunt Carla. We gathered together to celebrate.

Playing together

Since we just moved here we don't have too many playdates set up for Nila yet. Jonas is her willing partner in a lot of play lately. Here she was playing the mother with Jonas as her sick baby. She set up a bed for him.

She said he had a "fever" (can you tell this has been a reoccurring theme for him) and tucked him in to his bed with his blanket, a balloon, and some books. You can even see Jonas' play brother in the bin next to him.

The drama of a 4 year old life

We were getting the kids ready for bed. Nila was in her princess nightgown as usual. (I actually have to pry the thing off of her in order to wash it) Jonas was requesting his car pjs - a new favorite. The car pjs were dirty so Nila was helping Jonas pick out some other ones to wear. She wanted him to wear the reindeer pjs. He wanted to wear the rocket pjs. Tears and screaming were followed by this wonderful 4 year old logic. "I want to be a pretty princess and princesses go with animals, not rockets!" It was tough to talk her down....

Nila made Jonas this awesome card. She explained that she was wearing a dress and that Jonas was wearing overalls. I love the bellybutton detail.

I didn't have time to get these pics posted over the weekend since our furnace went out on Friday morning - or actually sometime during the night. The house was freezing when I woke up. Fortunantly we were already planning on getting a new furnace next weekend so we just moved it up to this weekend, but still, it threw a bit of a kink in all our plans. Grandma Linda arrived on Sunday afternoon and the kids have been loving all the extra fun and attention. The week just seems to fly by - she needs to stay longer than a week! We visited Great Grandma in Pentwater on Monday and today we are paining the dining room. Goodbye ugly green walls! Just the kilz white is an improvement. I cannot wait to finish painting tomorrow.

Opening presents

Jonas was so excited to be the birthday boy. He had a huge smile on his face the whole time and loved us singing to him and then the cake that followed. Nila helped him out opening presents.

Jonas' balloon

Jonas went and picked out his birthday balloon. Jason got one for Nila last year and it was a huge hit. We are making it into a bit of a tradition. A well spent $3.

We make a cake

Nila and Jonas are serious cake baking experts - or at least they hang out long enough to get the chocolate frosting. We celebrated Jonas' birthday on Thursday since Jason was gone in California on Tuesday. The kids love to lick the beater!

Jonas does pizza

We had pizza again last night. The kids love it and so does Jason. I am getting better at making it quicker, but the kitchen still ends up being a HUGE mess when we are done. We sure do miss the pizza oven Pascal! I make a Hawaiian pizza and Jonas just loved the pineapple. He ate almost the whole can!
