Just love this...

More to come from the Lake House, but until then - here are my favorite two from the weekend.

knock knock

Auntie Lis went a little crazy with the sidewalk chalk.

She made a path for Nila with a door and we all had to knock on the door and then follow Nila around the path.

It was lots of fun. Then all the grownups started experimenting with the chalk and Jason taught Lis the awesome trick that you can write with both hands at the same time and your hands will automatically do a mirror image...don't think about this too much, just try it. Lis was super impressed and we spent the rest of the evening trying to write our names backwards.

First Farmer's Market

We hit the local farmer's market on Saturday. It was wonderful! We were really impressed with the local vendors and are looking forward to a summer of good local food. We also joined a CSA and Nila, Jonas and I pick up our "share" every Wednesday at the other farmer's market. I am learning a whole new way to buy groceries and cook. I never know what I am going to get in our Wednesday bundle or what will be available at the market. It is a serious challenge. This week we got spinche, radishes, salad greens, garlic root tips, and turnip greens....not sure what to make with the turnip greens.

A couple times a week I have lunch picnic style on the lawn. Nila thinks it is wonderful to go set up the blanket and eat outside. This idillic setting above was quickly disrupted as Jonas proceded to first dump his yogurt and then Nila's yogurt all over the place. The strawberries quickly followed.

Too many pictures

Once again Jason took too many pictures for one person to sort thru. We had a jam packed memorial day weekend with a visit from Auntie Lis and then two days at the Uncle Benjamin's Lake house. Here is Nila's latest drawing. I was super impressed considering now her people have bodies instead of just arms sticking out of their heads.

Jonas has a high temp again, this is his second day like this. He is in good spirits but has a hard time sleeping. Last night was particulary fun because I woke up around 3am to Nila about three inchs from my nose wispering "Daddy, wake up, wake up Daddy, wake up" When I did and asked what she wanted she started into this strange story about I do not even know what. For the next hour she ping ponged between Sarah and I refusing to stay in the middle of the bed. Jonas woke up around 4am and well that was the end of my night of sleep.

Tonight when I got home we all played outside in the sun and grass for awhile. After this winter we are really enjoying our time outside.

Sarah is almost done with the edging on her quilt.

She also re-purposed a pair of old linen pants I loved. The finally had to be put to rest after they developed some large holes in a couple of spots.

Jonas looks great in his new pants.

Jonas has figured out the stair thing. He can scoot himself up and down with great speed.

We still need to keep a close eye on him though, he has a habit of standing up near the top and trying to turn around.

Jonas Loves Loves Loves corn. Sarah told me that he freaked out when she got it out to cook and did not give him any. She picked him up to calm him down and he freaked out again when she put it in the pot to boil. He really loves the stuff.

Sarah and Nila planted the garden today. Nila loved the worms. She carried two around for awhile (a mommy and a baby).

Jonas helped me wash the cars. (I washed four of them today)

We skyped some friends today. Nila loved to see her friend Tabitha. After the "call" she said "Her showed me the babies and all the dresses" Tabitha changed about 5 times during the call. She was not as wiley as last time... No Feet...

We also got some photos from them. Sarah laid them all out and loved to look at everyone.

Sidewalk Chalk

Nilas Great Aunt Suzanne brought Nila some chalk, she was very particular about what colors I was allowed to use.

Nila tried to lick one of these.. According to her they do not taste so good.

The Rock

Jonas... Not so much of a walker... He had to stop at every patch of gravel and walk back and forth through it and pick up every rock and throw it. We eventually had to plant a rock up the road in front of him to gain any forward ground.
