HAPPY NEW YEAR

Jason showing Nila how it works...

Nila on the trail...

Sarah on the way back...

Today was the last day of 2006 in France. Did not feel like it though. We went for a hike today. Before we left I was getting out coats, gloves, hats etc. for everyone, only to find that it was near balmy outside. I ended up leaving all of it in the car. Last year on the 29th of December I was snowboarding in a below zero snow storm... Anyhow, we went for a hike today and then a party at our friends Jeff and Amys house. Nila zonked out before New Years hit (her first one EVER and she didn’t even stay up for it).

Happy New Year to everyone. (in 5 more hours at least in the USA) Keep coming back to the blog. I want to find out how to add videos to the blog in 2007..

Eye see you.. (don't laugh this actually took me almost 3 min to come up with)

Nila decided that the kitchen would be a great place to plant a garden this morning. It is amazing how fast kids can move when they are getting into something they are not suppose to.

Nila got this push cart for Christmas this morning. She has already done 5 laps around the apartament with it. Steering is still a problem so I need to help her out. I moved the cart away from her to stear it and she took two steps forwards without any help. First Christmas = First Steps.

After awhile Santa had to leave and we all went down to Pascal and Christine’s house to eat some great authentic Mexican food mad by another friend, Paul’s wife Alma, drink some wine and play multilingual Pictionary. Our only regret is that Nila wasn’t old enough to remember this one. I guess photos will have to do.

Besides the donkey, Nila covered in pink and in a crib full of hay, us and Santa, I think Santa’s goggles are what really make this photo great…

I guess at this point I should probably explain this bit better. Our friends Jeff and Amy are renting a house not far from us. The owners /builders (Pascal and Christine) of the house live right down the road. He is always tinkering around the house and earlier this year decided that he needed to build a garage for Amy’s car out back.

Off he went and started to build and build, every time we came over for dinner or to drop something off it would get bigger. Around a month ago he told us that it was going to be done in time for Christmas and he was going to throw a big garage warming party. Tonight was that party.

They decorated the whole garage, had Christmas music, food, put up a temporary holding pin for his goat and donkey, made a nativity, and had Santa show up on a motorcycle. Really it was beyond words.

Santa showed up on his 1950’s BMW motorcycle, one of the kids asked were his reindeer where, he said “resting for tomorrow night” of course…

We just got back from a great Christmas party with all our friends.

We thought that Nila was going to terrorize the tree and everything under it. We thought we would be constantly pulling her out from under it.. In general she is a machine when it comes to exploring the apartment and finding weak points in our baby defense system. Much to our surprise the tree went up and she has barely even looked at it or the presents. I have no rational explanation for this. Yesterday she did crawl up to the tree and touch one of the branches then crawled away disinterested. Seriously it is beyond me.

She still has a couple of red spots here and there. We think she may end up with two small scars on her face and one on her back. I didn’t get many photos when she was at her peak. She really wasn’t in the mood for photos most nights when I got home..

Look what I can do!!! She has been able to do this for a couple of days now. One time she stayed up for over a min out there on her own. She is also cruzing along on her two feet whenever she holds on to the couch or the bathtub. She has tried a couple of times to take that first step but no luck yet. Posted by Picasa

She just had those two bottom teeth then during the trip home BAMB the flood gates opened up. They are coming trough like crazy now. I love listening to her little teeth crunching away on her animal crackers. Posted by Picasa
